Five tips for getting the "new year" started right
Back to school to-do lists like this one are abundant this time of year:
- 3 glue sticks.
- 24 pencils.
- 1 box 24 crayons.
- 1 box 8 washable markers
- 5 notebooks
Kids might use half of what's on a list. The other half will be shoved in a utility closet where parents will forget about them, only to buy all new supplies next year.
No worries. We've put together our own back-to-school list for the administrative side of your Learning Stream account and it’s a lot easier than fighting over that last wide-rule spiral notebook in the back-to-school aisle.
- Activate two-factor authentication.
Two-factor authentication requires an additional authentication factor before account access is granted. This second factor involves sending a verification code via text to the phone number associated with the Admin/User's account. You can specify how long before requiring subsequent re-authentications. Contact support if you want that feature activated at no charge.
- Review your contact information.
Check the contact information in Application > Account > General. Make sure you have current information for the main account admin, billing, and technical contacts. Those are the first points of contact for Learning Stream.
- Review admin/user contact information.
Like the primary contact information, go to Application > Users to ensure all contact details are up to date for you and/or the users you manage. Emails addresses, and phone numbers for a two-factor authentication, should be up to date. Ensure the user information aligns with the actual user.
- Time for a password update?
Have you updated your login password recently? It never hurts to come up with a fresh one that isn’t the same one you use for your social media accounts, or one that isn’t a combination of your pet’s name and your graduation year.
- Review your messaging
On confirmation and reminder emails, etc., do you offer more than one means for registrants to reach out to you? Is contact information clear on your event pages and calendars? Few of us like to read directions, so it’s always good to indicate multiple times how to contact you with questions.
You can address most of these recommendations in a few minutes. And none requires a desperate trip to an office supply store at 9:55 on a school night.
